PANDSI Champions Program
What is it?
PANDSI Canberra will train members of the community to become ‘PANDSI Champions’. A Champion's role is to promote PANDSI, build relationships with the community, enhance the name of PANDSI across Canberra and help build a strong bond between the Canberra community and PANDSI.
This is not a fundraising role, but if potential donors are identified (financial or in-kind) we can let you know who to pass their details on to for follow-up, or explain to you how you may assist in the fundraising process if you want to be involved.
How is it done?
PANDSI will conduct 30 minute training sessions throughout the year and upon completion each Champion will receive a certificate.
The training will cover:
- What and how PANDSI supports families experiencing perinatal depression
- The role and expectations of a PANDSI Champion
- How to deliver a two minute chat about PANDSI identifying the key messages
- What to do if someone tells you they have perinatal depression/asks for support from you
- How to stay connected with PANDSI to fulfil your role as Champion
Each Champion will receive an information pack to support them in their role. Champions will be invited to join the PANDSI Champion Facebook group ‘PANDSICanberraChampions’ to keep up to date with Champion specific information, and be invited to specific events from time to time.
Who can be a Champion?
PANDSI would like to invite all members of the Canberra community who feel they can fulfil the role of Champion as stated above. All potential Champions will be invited to attend the training and complete an application form. The application form will then be reviewed by the CEO and President of PANDSI prior to the final decision regarding Championship being awarded.
What are the benefits of being a Champion?
The benefits of volunteering are enormous for you, your family, and your community. As a Champion you will learn new skills, meet new people and help reduce the stigma around mental health.
